Varangaon-Akola signalling: The Ministry of Railways has announced the successful completion of Automatic Block Signalling (ABS) on the Varangaon-Akola section, spanning 76.43 km. This achievement follows the commissioning of ABS between Bodwad and Malkapur railway stations, covering 19.81 km.
The update was shared by the Ministry of Railways on X.
The completion of ABS on this critical section is set to bring several key benefits to the region’s rail operations. Primarily, it will enhance train safety by reducing the risk of collisions and improving the management of train movements. The new system is expected to ensure train punctuality, reducing delays and improving overall reliability for passengers and freight services. Additionally, the upgraded signaling system will help increase line capacity, allowing more trains to operate efficiently on the same track, thus optimizing the use of available infrastructure.
The Ministry of Railways highlighted that this move is a part of the broader effort to modernize rail infrastructure across Maharashtra and improve the safety and efficiency of the railway network. The introduction of ABS is expected to streamline operations on this route, making train journeys safer and more timely for travelers.
