Looking at the popularity and growing demand by the commuters, Indian Railways has decided to introduce 27 more new air-conditioned (AC) local train services in Mumbai from today onwards. Of these, 17 services will be run by Western Railway (WR) zone and the remaining 10 AC local trains will be operated by Central Railway (CR) zone.
Routes of AC Local Train services in Western Railway:-
These new AC local trains will be operated in the Western Railway (WR) zone’s Mumbai Suburban section. The zonal railway has also extended the services of AC local from Dahanu Road to Churchgate station. Till now, the train used to run between Dahanu Road and Andheri stations. However, these trains will not be operated on the weekends.
With these, the total number of AC local train services will increase to 96 from the existing 79. The Western Railway operates 1,394 services, including the AC trains.
Suburban services in the Mumbai Division of Central Railway:-
Last week, Central Railway also decided to introduce 10 more Air Conditioned (AC) local services from Monday. These trains will replace the existing non-AC trains in Mumbai Division. With this, the total number of AC local trains in the Division will increase 66 daily.
Trains affected in Western Railway zone
Several trains will be affected today in order to carry out technical upgradation work at Dahanu Road railway station of the Western Railway zone from 09:40 hrs to 10:40 hrs on November 6.
Here are the list of trains to be affected over the zone:-
- Train Number 12934 Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central Karnavati Express will be regulated by 45 to 50 minutes.
- Train Number 93007 Andheri–Dahanu Road local departing Andheri at 07:51 hrs will be short terminated at Vangaon and hence will be partially cancelled between Vangaon and Dahanu Road.
- Train Number 93010 Dahanu Road-Virar local departing Dahanu Road at 09:37 hrs will remain partially cancelled between Dahanu Road and Vangaon and will short originate Ex Vangaon i.e. run between Vangaon and Virar.
- Train Number 93009 Churchgate–Dahanu Road local departing Churchgate at 07:42 hrs will be short terminated at Vangaon and hence will be partially cancelled between Vangaon and Dahanu Road.
- Train Number 93012 Dahanu Road-Virar local departing Dahanu Road at 10:10 hrs will remain partially cancelled between Dahanu Road and Vangaon and will short originate Ex Vangaon i.e. run between Vangaon and Virar.
