In anticipation of the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has inaugurated the ‘Namo Express,’ a special train destined for Konkan, from Mumbai’s Dadar station, an ANI report said. Highlighting the collective effort, Fadnavis mentioned that Mumbai BJP Chief Ashish Shelar, Cabinet Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, and their teams worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth experience, aiming to make this year’s celebration even more grandiose.
Special Trains for Ganpati Festival
Fadnavis announced that the Maharashtra BJP has orchestrated a comprehensive transportation plan for devotees heading to the Konkan region for the Ganpati festival, reported ANI. This includes the operation of six special trains and 338 buses, ensuring a hassle-free journey for passengers.
In addition to the state arrangements, the report suggested that the Central Railway is also playing a significant role by running 156 Ganpati Special trains for the festival. Bookings for these trains are currently open, further facilitating the travel of devotees.
The Ganesh Chaturthi festival is set to commence on September 19 and will span ten days, concluding on September 29. The celebration culminates with the immersion of the idol in a public procession accompanied by music and group chanting, a ritual known as “visarjan,” typically carried out in a nearby body of water, such as a river or sea, on the day of Anant Chaturdashi.
