Bihar Buxar Train Accident: Indian Railways will conduct a high-level probe in the derailment of train number 12506 Anand Vihar Terminal-Kamakhya North East Express. The probe will ascertain the reasons behind the tragic rail accident that witnessed the death of four passengers so far. In a statement, Birendra Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), East Central Railway (ECR) said, “Chief Safety Commissioner (Railway), Eastern Circle, Kolkata, will conduct the probe into the accident.”

Track restoration work

Presently, senior officials are at the site including Tarun Prakash, General Manager (GM), ECR, to monitor the restoration work. The national transporter has targeted to normalise the rail traffic at the earliest. It also regulated the operations of several trains. Thus, the passengers are being advised to check their train status before commencing their journey from home.

23 coaches derailed

A total of 23 coaches of North East Express have derailed at Bihar’s Raghunathpur railway station. The station falls under the administrative jurisdiction of East Central Railway’s Danapur Division.

Compensation

The national transporter has also announced compensation for the victims of the passengers who died or injured due to the train accident. The victims who lost their family members will receive an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh while the injured passengers will receive compensation of Rs 50,000.
