Bihar Train Accident News: Indian Railways is working in full swing to restore the traffic on the Delhi-Howrah Main Line. The rail has been affected following the derailment of 12506 Anand vihar Terminal-Kamakhya North East Express on October 10, 2023 (Wednesday). The accident occurred at 21:53 hrs near Bihar’s Raghunathpur station. It has been targeted to resume the rail traffic at the earliest. 

Train operations affected

The national transporter has also regulated the operations of several trains including Rajdhani Express and Poorva Express.

Completion of rescue operation

Earlier in the day, the East Central Railway (ECR) with the unified effort of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), District administration and local residents completed the rescue operation. The passengers have been safely evacuated from the coaches and shifted to a special train for onward journey.

High-level probe

The railways will conduct a high-level probe to ascertain the cause of the accident. In a tweet, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has expressed deepest condolences for the irreparable loss. He also added, “Will find the root cause of the derailment.”  

Casualties

At least four passengers have died and more than 70 injured due to the accident. The injured are being treated at local hospitals while the  critically injured people have been referred to AIIMS Patna.
