Late Sunjay Kapur’s estranged wife Karisma Kapoor’s children filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking a share in Kapur’s estate. The children have accused his widow Priya Kapur of forging the businessman’s will to gain full control of assets worth around Rs 30,000 crore. He was married to Karisma Kapoor for 13 years and the couple has a son and a daughter.

The petition, reportedly filed by the siblings through their mother Karisma Kapoor, claims that they have been wrongfully excluded from their father’s fortune. Sunjay died in the UK in June this year while playing polo.

What does the petition say?

According to Live Law, the suit has been filed by Samaira Kapur and Kiaan Raj Kapur against Sunjay’s second wife Priya Kapur, their son, his mother Rani Kapur and Shradha Suri Marwah, who is reportedly the executor of Sunjay’s will. The petition argues that Priya Kapur’s actions aim to “usurp full control” of the estate and exclude the legal heirs. The children have requested the court to recognise them as Class I heirs and grant each a one-fifth share of the estate.

Allegations of forged will

Karishma’s children have alleged that Priya allegedly conspired with associates Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma to withhold the will for over seven weeks before presenting it at a family meeting on July 30. The petitioners claimed that their father’s will had been forged and that the original document was deliberately hidden to prevent them from claiming their rightful share.

They have also sought an interim order to freeze all personal assets of Sunjay Kapur to prevent further dissipation of wealth during the ongoing dispute.
