US is a step closer to launching the Gold Card permanent residence program. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have submitted Form I‑140G, Immigrant Petition for the Gold Card Program, for clearance with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

A foreigner i.e. the petitioner, may file Form I-140G to request an employment-based immigrant visa under the Gold Card program established by Executive Order 14351, The Gold Card dated September 19, 2025.

Form I-140G is the first step in the Gold Card process. Gold Card holders will not get US citizenship but will instead serve as a pathway to citizenship.

Foreign nationals seeking US citizenship must undergo a process called ‘naturalization’. Lawful permanent residents (LPRs), or ‘green card’ holders, are eligible for this process, as they are legally authorized to live and work in the United States according to the standards set by the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). President Trump has described the Trump card as an advanced form of the green card.

The non-refundable fee for Form I-140G is $15,000 per person. Once the petition is approved and there is an immigrant visa number available in the requested employment-based classification, the petitioner must complete consular processing with the U.S. Department of State at an embassy or consulate to get an immigrant visa and travel to the United States to be admitted as a lawful permanent resident.

The lawful permanent residents are also called the Green Card holders in the US. An applicant for the Trump Gold Card receives lawful permanent resident status as an EB-1 or EB-2 visa holder.

Gold Card

For an individual filing Form I-140G on his or her own behalf, the required gift to the United States is $1 million for each person requesting a Gold Card, including the principal beneficiary, any accompanying spouse, and any children listed on this petition who are also requesting a Gold Card. If a corporation files Form I-140G for an individual, a gift of $2 million is required for the principal beneficiary applying for a Gold Card, with $1 million required for each accompanying spouse or child also requesting a Gold Card.

A new Trump Platinum Card has also been announced, which comes with $5 million price tag.

Foreigners can now apply for a US Gold Card at the trumpcard.gov website by providing some initial details. The website features a gold-colored card with Trump’s face, asking applicants’ names, region, email address, and whether they are applying for themselves or as a business.

The Trump Gold Card website asks interested people to fill out a form that specifies eight regions: Europe, Asia (including the Middle East), North America, Oceania, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and Africa.
