The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program has issued notifications of interest to foreigners looking to settle in one of Canada’s prominent provinces. One can apply for a nomination for permanent residence in Ontario if you are a foreign national with Ontario work experience in an eligible skilled trade.
On October 17, 2024, Ontario issued targeted notifications of interest to potential candidates who may qualify for Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades stream.
Candidates only received a notification if they had a comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score of 405-435 and work experience in specific national occupational classification (NOC) codes.
Your work experience in one of the specific NOCs must be listed as your primary NOC in your Express Entry profile. You will need to demonstrate that at least six months of your one year of eligible work experience is in your primary NOC.
Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream is an immigration stream under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). It gives foreign nationals with Ontario work experience in eligible skilled trades the opportunity to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario.
You must have a valid profile in the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC’s) Express Entry system and receive a Notification of Interest from Ontario before you can apply online to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residence.
If you are nominated, your next step will be to apply to the federal government through IRCC. They make the final decision on who becomes a permanent resident.
You may apply to this stream if you have received a notification of interest on October 17, 2024.
To apply:
Review the Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades stream page to determine if you meet the requirements.
Review the document checklist to ensure you have the mandatory documents.
Log in to the OINP e-Filing Portal and follow the steps as a new or returning user.
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are not guaranteed a notification of interest, and receiving a notification of interest does not guarantee that you meet stream criteria or that your application will be approved.
On October 8, invitations were sent for 2024 Employer Job Offer Foreign Worker stream for skilled trades and other priority occupations and for Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP) under the Employer Job Offer Foreign Worker stream.
