US President Donald Trump appears to be adopting a not-so-rigid approach to the much-talked-about H-1B visa; just weeks after imposing a hefty $100,000 application fee, Trump seemed to soften his position in a Fox News interview.
During the interview, Trump was asked whether the H-1B program remained a priority for him, given his consistent advocacy for increasing American wages.
The exchange took an unexpected turn when the Fox News host questioned, “H-1B visa thing won’t be a big priority for you? If you want to raise wages for Americans, you can’t flood the country with thousands of foreign workers.”
Trump replied, “You don’t have certain talents. People have to learn. You can’t take people off the unemployment line and say go make missiles.”

When host Laura Ingraham suggested that America already has a large pool of talented individuals, Trump pushed back. “Well, we have plenty of talented people in America,” Ingraham said.
Trump immediately countered, “No, you don’t. No.” She pressed again, asking, “We don’t have talented people here?” To which the President responded, “You have to bring in talent.”
‘Believe in American workers’
MAGA seems to be not so happy with the new statement. Across social media platforms, Trump supporters are slamming him over the softer stance.
A user on X wrote, “If Americans can TRAIN their H-1B replacements, then they can train OTHER Americans to do the job. BELIEVE in American workers. We are losing a generation of priceless talented American citizens by giving opportunity to foreigners instead of our own people.”
Another added, “This news will be a game changer. He clearly said America does not have the talent and they need more H-1B.”
A user noted, “He says we need H-1B Visa program to bring talent to the U.S., and on the other hand we need to bring jobs to the US. Talking points are very confusing. So we put our graduates out of work importing SE Asian talent, but kick illegals out make more openings for fruit pickers?.”
A netizen claimed, “END H-1B now. No reform, end it.”
“The American talent can’t get the high paying jobs because of the H-1B slave racket,” slammed a user.
