Education Occupations Category
Canada’s Express Entry program, a popular immigration pathway for foreigners seeking employment and permanent residence in the country, was modified in February 2025 and a new ‘education occupation category’ was introduced.
Education Occupations Category falls under the Express Entry: Category-based selection. In category-based rounds of invitations, Canada invites candidates in the Express Entry pool who are eligible for a specific category to meet an identified economic goal.
Candidates who are invited to apply for permanent residence are based on criteria such as ability to communicate in a specific official language, work experience in a specific occupation and education.
Current Category-based rounds are conducted in:
French-language proficiency
Healthcare and social services occupations
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations
Trade occupations
Agriculture and agri-food occupations
Education occupations
