Belgium has released the salary thresholds for specific categories of occupation for foreign workers. These amounts are updated every year on January 1 based on the latest amounts published each September by Statbel (Directorate-General for Statistics – Statistics Belgium). Here are salary thresholds for specific categories of occupation applicable from January 1 2025. These salary thresholds apply to non-European nationals working for an employer located in the Brussels Capital Region.

Since January 1, 2024, the salary thresholds for specific categories of occupation are calculated based on a percentage of the average gross monthly salary (Only the basic monthly remuneration considered) in the Brussels Capital Region, which is €4,604. From January 1, 2025, the average gross monthly salary in the Brussels Capital will amount to €4,748.

For these specific categories, it will amount to at least the following:

Gross amount per month (as from 01/01/2025): €6.647,20 (140 %)

Category: Highly qualified personnel
Gross amount per month (since 01/10/2024): €3,591.12 (78 %)

Category: Performing artist
Gross amount per month (since 01/10/2024): €2,992.60 (65 %)
Gross amount per month (as from 01/01/2025): €3.086,20 (65 %)

Category: European Blue Card
Gross amount per month (since 01/10/2024): €4,604.00 (100 %)

Category: ICT manager

The calculation method for athletes and the determination of the guaranteed average minimum monthly income remain unchanged and will remain in force. For Athletes as of 07/01/2024, the Gross amount per month is €6,873.15 and the guaranteed average minimum monthly income (01/05/2024) is €2,070.48.
