International students are no longer permitted to enroll in two courses concurrently during the first six months of their principal course of study, according to a recent announcement from the Australian government. Due to this, concurrent enrolments for overseas students in the first six months of study are now prohibited.

Concurrent enrollment is when a student enrolls in multiple award courses at the University. A student can enroll in two programs at once with concurrent enrolment. Two programs may be enrolled concurrently, and candidates must meet the requirements for eligibility listed in the Enrolment Manual.

As a result of the new rules on concurrent enrollments, the educational and training institutions will not be permitted to enroll concurrently students who have not finished the first six months of their main course. This modification has no effect on students who are already enrolled in concurrent courses.

The concurrent study function in Provider Registration and International Student Management System (PRISMS) that allowed students to hold concurrent enrolments has been identified as an avenue to avoid transfer restrictions under the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 (National Code).

Student transfers are prohibited during the first six months of their primary course of study, according to Standard 7 of the National Code. The interests of both providers and students are safeguarded by this clause. Students who have not finished six months of their primary course will not be eligible to enroll concurrently. Education and training organizations are required by the ESOS Act National Code 2018 to accept or reject requests for release during the six-month transfer restriction period.

Only those who have the appropriate approval or whose course is an approved component of a combined or double degree are permitted to enroll concurrently. When enrolled concurrently, your total study load for both degrees cannot be greater than that of a full-time student.

After the current semester’s results have been announced but before the commencement of the semester you wish to enroll in concurrently, you must submit your application. Your application will be denied if you submit it before the results are made public, and you will then need to reapply. Different faculties and schools have different application procedures.
