A Dubai-based general practitioner has shared her emotional and transformative visa journey on Reddit, detailing past rejections and newfound hope as she prepares to reapply for a B1/B2 visa—this time alongside her husband.
The doctor revealed that she faced three visa denials in the past, including two rejections when applying with her family and one solo rejection in 2016 for a medical observership from Pakistan. While her family later secured their US visas, she chose not to reapply at the time, focusing instead on personal and professional growth.
Fast forward to 2025, the applicant’s circumstances have changed significantly. After relocating to Dubai in 2023, she got married and began working full-time as a general practitioner. Over the last two years, she’s built a strong travel record—visiting 12 countries, including two trips to Schengen nations.
“I’m hoping my travel history now shows that I’m a responsible international traveler,” she wrote in her post, indicating that her global mobility could help strengthen her case.
Her husband, an IT specialist with nearly a decade of employment at the same company, adds further credibility to their upcoming joint application. With a stable income and rooted professional life, the couple now feels more confident about pursuing their US travel plans.
Still, the doctor is cautious. She turned to Reddit to ask whether anyone had experienced similar setbacks and what strategies worked for them during reapplication. “We’re wondering if it’s worth trying again, given that our situation has changed a lot,” she said.
Community members have been supportive, suggesting that strong documentation, a clear purpose of visit, and evidence of financial and professional stability could improve her odds this time around.
One user said, ” Hey I am in a similar situation. I got rejected in 2023 when I applied with family. Ever since I never reapplied for US visa but instead I got to travel 3 different countries including Australia. Now I am planning to apply solo but I am very much skeptical as I don’t want second rejection in my profile.”
Another added, Even though your case looks solid, you were rejected thrice. I would suggest let your husband travel first and you join him later. Why burden his chances with your case.”
