To strengthen the last-mile connectivity, the Maha Metro (which looks the implementation of Pune Metro) will approach the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) to reschedule feeder bus service from more stations to improve last-mile connectivity
The development has come in the backdrop of a recently launched feeder service from Ramwadi Metro station to Lohegaon airport. The Maha Metro is looking to approach PMPML to enable feeder bus operations from more stations.
“We are trying to provide more feeder services to help commuters reach stations easily,” a Maha Metro official said while adding that the route extension has increased daily footfall, as reported by TOI.
Notably, the PMPML feeder buses have been operational from Civil Court, Nal Stop, and Garware College stations since August last year. However, the number of trips was downsized and later spotted owing to poor response.
Seamless commutation in city
At present, the Maha Metro is looking to reschedule these feeder bus services for seamless passenger connectivity and increase the use of feeder buses by easy facilitation.
Meanwhile, daily commuters have also suggested deploying smaller buses during rush hours to connect nearby areas like Karvenagar and Prabhat Road from Nal Stop station.
The extension of the feeder bus route from Ramwadi Metro Station to Lohegaon Airport has already led to increased daily footfall. With these initiatives, Maha Metro further looks to facilitate easy access to Metro stations and streamline transportation for residents and visitors alike in Pune.
It is noteworthy that the Metro stations will also soon have share-an-auto services available. A decision to revive the services was taken during a meeting held by a city-based forum working on transport issues with auto rickshaw unions and Maha Metro officials.
