Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on 20 October, where will be launching and laying the foundation stone for several projects costing around Rs 1,300 crore, as stated by officials. The Prime Minister of India is also scheduled to address two public events. Stringent security measures have been deployed for safety reasons. Modi has represented Varanasi in the Lok Sabha Elections since 2014.

Inauguration of sports complex and hospital

The president of BJP’s Kashi region, Dilip Patel has shared the details regarding PM Modi’s programme. According to the plan, PM Modi will arrive at Babatpur Airport around 12:30 pm. His first halt will be at Shankara Nethralaya on Ring Road where is expected to inaugurate the hospital. He will then be addressing around 1,000 attendees who all have been invited by the hospital trust. After this, PM Modi will take on a road journey to Sampurnanand Sports Stadium in Sigra, where it will launch the sports complex. Several other projects’ foundations will be laid out by PM Modi on Sunday.

Details about the project

The Divisional Commissioner of Varanasi, Kaushal Raj Sharma has mentioned that the inauguration of Shankara Nethralaya will benefit residents of Varanasi but will also cater to the needs of patients from Bihar and Purvanchal. PM Modi will also be launching the Babatpur Airport terminal and other airport-related projects which have an estimated cost of Rs 1,300 crore.

Varanasi tightens security measures

Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal highlighted that in preparation for the upcoming visit, about 5,000 police personnel which will include officers from SPG and ATS will be stationed. Officers will be monitoring the situation in civil dress and drones will also be deployed for the surveillance. To prevent traffic congestion, special arrangements have been made so that attendees don’t have to face problems in reaching the venue. PM Modi is expected to take off from Delhi after wrapping up all the events by 6 PM.
