A disruption hit Kolkata Metro’s North-South Line on Wednesday morning when an individual allegedly attempted suicide by leaping onto the tracks, according to an official statement.
The incident unfolded at Netaji Bhavan station around 11:38 am. Emergency responders retrieved the individual and transported them to a nearby hospital. The individual identity is yet to be unveiled by the authorities.
Consequently, train services between Rabindra Sadan and Rabindra Sarobar stations were halted. Normal operations resumed by 12:40 pm. The North-South Line, spanning 32 kilometers, known colloquially as the Blue Line, links New Garia in the city’s south to Dakshineswar in the north.
