Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (March 6) inaugurated the Kochi Metro phase 1B. PM Modi also virtually inaugurated the Tripunithura Terminal Metro station, extending the Aluva-SN junction stretch by 1.16 km. The successful conclusion of the first phase of the Kochi Metro, spanning 28.125 km with 25 stations, is highlighted by the inauguration of the new station.

Residents from the southern and eastern regions of Ernakulam district will experience quicker and more convenient connectivity to the port city following the virtual inauguration of the accomplished phase 1B of Kochi Metro.

Tripunithura terminal

Along with this, Tripunithura terminal, which interlinks with the railway station, was also opened for public. This would also be beneficial for long distance commuters, the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) said.

KMRL stated that the forthcoming bus terminal in Tripunithura has the potential to revolutionize the transportation sector in the Kochi region and reshape the landscape of the royal town.

While the approved fare for the journey from Aluva to Tripunithura is Rs 75, the current ticket price will temporarily be set at Rs 60, equivalent to the cost of traveling from Aluva to SN Junction, as per KMRL. 

Additionally, the newly inaugurated station boasts a unique feature, the Dance Museum, showcasing sculptures representing various dance forms of Kerala. The Dance Museum is set to be opened to the public soon, according to KMRL.
