Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday jointly laid the foundation stone for the Komuravelli (Halt) railway station in Siddipet district of Telangana.
The renowned Komuravelli Mallikarjuna Swamy temple is situated in the Komuravelli village, which draws thousands of pilgrims annually seeking the divine darshan of the presiding deity.
Importance of Komuravelli
Recognising the significance of this temple town, the Ministry of Railways has sanctioned the establishment of a Halt station at Komuravelli, as per a statement from South Central Railway.
This new station will introduce train connectivity to the area for the first time, meeting the long-held aspirations of the local populace, the statement added.
Situated along the Manoharabad-Kothapalli railway line, the station is part of a larger project. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a section of this project, the Manoharabad-Siddipet stretch, underscoring its importance.
Earlier, Kishan Reddy, Mohan Yadav, and BJP MP K Laxman paid their respects at the Mallikarjuna Swamy temple.
Infrastructural milestone in Andhra Pradesh
A significant milestone in infrastructural development was reached by the South Central Railway (SCR) Zone with the successful completion and commissioning of a 20.3 km-long electrified third line between Karavadi and Surareddipalem in Andhra Pradesh. This newly completed section, situated in the Prakasam district, forms a crucial part of the Vijayawada-Gudur tripling and electrification project, signaling a notable advancement in railway infrastructure within the southern state.
