To develop the national capital as a manufacturing center, the Delhi government has approved a proposal to develop an eco-friendly industrial hub in the Rani Khera area.
The 147-acre industrial hub in northwest Delhi is aimed at generating new employment opportunities. The land for the industrial hub is being acquired from the state’s land owning agency Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
“This industrial hub will be entirely eco-friendly. Service industries like IT, ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services), and research will be established here. It is expected that there will be several clusters where multilevel buildings will be constructed,” an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated.
Building an environment-friendly industrial hub
Further, the responsibility for developing the new industrial hub in Rani Khera has been entrusted to the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) by the state government. The development of the hub will be done in two phases. First, a smart integrated IT park will be developed, comprising several building blocks that will be entirely pollution-free. Industries such as IT, ITES, media, biotechnology, research, and innovation hubs will be established.
Further, Industries to be set up in the industrial hub will have to strictly adhere to pollution standards.
One of the important aspects of the project is that the initiative enables both people from Delhi and outside of the state, to acquire land at concessional rates for setting up industries in the hub. Since it will be an entirely environment-friendly industrial centre, land allocation will prioritise industries that do not cause any pollution.
On Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed the officials to complete the development of the industrial hub within the set time frame and directed the departments concerned to take necessary measures.
After receiving approval from the Chief Minister, the file has now been sent to the Lieutenant Governor.
