Commuters experienced disruptions on Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line during the morning rush hour on Monday (October 7). The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that services were delayed between Haiderpur Badli Mor and Jahangirpuri stations due to a technical issue, although the specific reason was not disclosed.
The Yellow Line connects the Millennium City Centre in Gurugram to Samaypur Badli in Delhi. At 8:50 AM, the DMRC posted on X, stating, “Delay in services between Haiderpur Badli Mor and Jahangirpuri. Normal service on all other lines.”
“Train services on the Yellow Line are being regulated since morning due to damage caused to signalling cables by some miscreants between Haiderpur Badli Mor and Jahangirpuri metro station,” said Principal Executive Director, DMRC, Anuj Dayal.
Consequently, trains are operating at reduced speeds in this section, leading to a backlog of trains. However, normal train services continue on the rest of the Yellow Line, he added.
“To avoid inconvenience to the public during the day time, the necessary repair will be undertaken during night hours after the closing of revenue service,” Dayal said.
Many working professionals traveling from Samaypur Badli and Jahangirpuri to Gurugram in the morning faced difficulties during their commute. The DMRC has not provided clarification on the cause of the disrupted operations in its announcement.
Earlier, on Sunday morning, metro train operations on the Yellow Line (Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Gurugram) were disrupted for approximately an hour. Services resumed normally around 6:45 AM, with trains operating at 10-minute intervals during the delay. The disruption was caused by repair work at Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station.
