Good news for Delhiites! Two of the three remaining corridors of Delhi Metro’s Phase-IV project are in the advanced stages of getting approval. On completion, the DMRC’s new routes will further improve connectivity in the national capital.

DMRC’s Phase-IV corridors

In March 2019, a total of three DMRC corridors out of the six have received the approval of the Union Cabinet for Phase-IV project. These are: Tughlakabad-Aerocity, Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg and Majlis Park-Maujpur. The other three corridors which haven’t received the Cabinet approval are: Rithala-Bawana-Narela, Inderlok-Indraprastha and Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block.

A look at details of Delhi Metro’s Phase IV corridor:- 

Tughlakabad-Aerocity Metro Corridor:

The construction work on Tughlakabad-Aerocity Metro corridor (Silver Line) is underway. The officials are mulling to extend it till Delhi Airport Terminal 1D on the Magenta Line. The project on the 23.62-km-long route is expected to be complete by March 2026.

Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg corridor:-

The DMRC engineers are working tirelessly to complete the construction work on 28.92-km-long Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg corridor. It is an extension of the existing Magenta Line.

Majlis Park-Maujpur Metro corridor:

The 12.55-km-long Majlis Park-Maujpur Metro corridor is an extension of the existing Pink Line.

Rithala-Bawana-Narela Metro Corridor:-

The DMRCs Rithala-Bawana-Narela Metro corridor has been planned to extend to Haryana’s Kundli. This will be the fourth expansion of Delhi Metro into the neighbouring state after Yellow Line (Gurugram), Violet Line (Faridabad) and Green Line (Bahadurgarh). This corridor is being planned as an extension of the existing Shaheed Sthal-Rithala corridor of the Red Line. The 27.319-km-long corridor will  comprise 22 stations. While 26.339 km span and 21 stations will be elevated, about 0.89 km and one station will be at grade.
