Good news for Delhiites! The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced an additional user-friendly option to purchase tickets for travelling on the city’s rapid transit system. The country’s longest metro network has launched QR code-based ticketing facility through the Paytm Mobile App across all its corridors. 

Earlier this facility was available only on the Airport Express Line. The move is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment towards the “Digital India” initiative.

In a statement, Dr Vikas Kumar, MD, DMRC said, “Introduction of this QR-based ticketing for all corridors of Delhi Metro through Paytm will facilitate efficient and hassle-free movement for lakhs of metro commuters in the National Capital.”

Know how to purchase Delhi Metro QR ticket through Paytm app:-

The commuters can get the mobile QR ticket on the Paytm app under the ‘Metro’ section. The passengers have to simply enter the name of the station and destination on the day of the journey. The passengers have to hold their mobile phones in front of the QR code scanner of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates at both entry and exit stations to proceed with the journey.

The QR code-based ticketing facility through the Paytm Mobile App will enhance the ease of booking tickets’ for travelers across its extensive network. Now, the Delhi Metro passengers can skip the queues to buy tickets. With this new feature, commuters can book tickets from the comfort of their homes or workplaces which are easier, faster and convenient. 

Other modes of purchasing Delhi Metro tickets:- 

The Delhi Metro is providing various options for commuters to purchase tickets for travelling on its network. The passengers can purchase tickets using different digital modes such as UPI, Credit/Debit cards, net banking and more. Recently, the DMRC has rolled out multiple initiatives such as QR ticketing via the Mobile App, Ticket Vending Machines, Ticket Windows, WhatsApp etc.
