Amid social media posts claiming that Delhi Metro fares have been revised, the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) clarified on Wednesday that there has been no change in the fares.
In a statement posted on X, DMRC said, “This is in reference to some social media posts claiming that Delhi Metro fares have been revised. Delhi Metro’s fares can only be revised by an independent Fare Fixation Committee nominated by the Government. Currently, there is no proposal for the constitution of any Fare Fixation Committee.”
The clarification comes after a recent fare hike by Bengaluru Metro, which led to significant public backlash, particularly from the Congress party. The maximum fare was increased from Rs 60 to Rs 90, while the minimum fare was set at Rs 50, down from Rs 30.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has kept ticket prices unchanged for the last 6 to 7 years.
