The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) managing director Shalabh Goyal conducted an inspection of the Namo Bharat corridor from Meerut South Station to Sarai Kale Khan Station in Delhi. Starting at Meerut South Station, where construction has been completed, the inspection focused on operational preparations for the upcoming commencement of Namo Bharat trains.

NCRTC MD examined station facilities and reviewed parking arrangements. The station will also serve the Meerut Metro, improving travel convenience for residents from Meerut South to Modipuram.

Featuring three platforms, including two for Namo Bharat trains and one for Meerut Metro, the Meerut South Station is set to open an eight-kilometre section from Modi Nagar North Station to Meerut South to the public soon, significantly reducing travel time between Ghaziabad and Meerut South.

The statement noted ongoing trial runs for Namo Bharat trains between Modi Nagar North and Meerut South stations. Goyal also inspected the corridor from Modi Nagar North to Sahibabad, experiencing the operational section of the RRTS aboard a Namo Bharat train.

During the inspection, Goyal interacted with station controllers, train operators, and other staff to understand their daily challenges. He evaluated passenger facilities such as push buttons, PSD (Platform Screen Doors), stretcher spaces, and the train’s high-speed capabilities. He praised station cleanliness and urged officials to maintain high standards continuously.

8 stations of Namo Bharat trains operational

Currently, Namo Bharat trains operate across eight stations within the 34-kilometre Sahibabad to Modi Nagar North stretch. With services set to extend from Modi Nagar North to Meerut South, the operational section will span 42 kilometres and include nine RRTS stations.

Goyal also assessed ongoing construction progress at New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan elevated stations in the Delhi section, motivating officials to maintain safety standards amidst rapid construction challenges.

Delhi section of the RRTS corridor

The Delhi section of the RRTS corridor spans 14 kilometres, featuring nine kilometres elevated and five kilometres underground, including the construction of Anand Vihar Station. Viaduct construction in the Delhi section is complete, with three under-construction stations nearing completion. Efforts are underway to integrate these stations with other transport modes.

Highlighting the significance of the country’s first RRTS, Goyal emphasized its role in driving development in Delhi-NCR and providing a high-speed public transport system. He underscored the crucial role of NCRTC personnel in this development.
