The work on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor has been going on in full swing. Earlier, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) officials had said that trial runs on the Delhi section of the RRTS up to New Ashok Nagar station are likely to start by November.
German Ambassador to India, Dr. Philipp Ackermann, recently visited the country’s inaugural Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, which links Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, and experienced a ride on the Namo Bharat train, the NCRTC said in a tweet on October 24.
The NCRTC said that Ackermann took the ride on the Namo Bharat train from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot RRTS station, experiencing the “fast, safe, and reliable travel provided by this new-age mobility solution”.
During the visit, Ackermann was accompanied by Shalabh Goel, Managing Director, NCRTC, and other senior officials of the company.
Ackermann praised the commuter-friendly amenities at the RRTS stations, the well-designed features of the Namo Bharat trains aimed at enhancing comfort for regional travel, and the various initiatives implemented to make RRTS one of the most eco-friendly modes of transit, contributing to sustainable development in the region.
“The visit also included a tour of the state-of-the-art Operations Control Center at the RRTS Depot in Duhai, where team NCRTC demonstrated several ground-breaking technologies being adopted for this first-of-its-kind project in India,” the tweet read.
The project’s timely implementation was praised by the German Ambassador. The visit wrapped up with a tree plantation event at the RRTS Depot in Duhai.
