Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth Rs 21,400 crore in Bihar’s Aurangabad. These development initiatives encompass various sectors such as road, railway, and the Namami Gange project, among others. Additionally, the Prime Minister also toured the photo gallery.

National Highway projects worth Rs 18,100 crore

The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for numerous National Highway projects valued at over Rs 18,100 crore. Among the projects to be inaugurated are, a 63.4 km long two-lane with paved shoulder Jaynagar-Narahia section of NH-227; a section of the six-lane Patna ring road from Kanhauli to Ramnagar on NH-131G; a 3.2 km long second flyover parallel to the existing one in Kishanganj town; the four-laning of the 47 km long Bakhtiyarpur-Rajauli stretch; and the four-laning of the 55 km long Arra – Parariya section of NH–319.

He also  initiated the foundation laying ceremony for six National Highway projects, which include: the construction of a 55 km long four-lane access-controlled Greenfield National Highway from Amas to village Shivrampur; a 54 km long four-lane access-controlled Greenfield National Highway from Shivrampur to Ramnagar; a 47 km long four-lane access-controlled greenfield National Highway from village Kalyanpur to village Balbhadarpur; a 42 km long four-lane access-controlled greenfield National Highway from Balbhadarpur to Bela Nawada; a 25 km long four-lane elevated corridor from the Danapur – Bihta Section; and the upgradation of the existing two-lane to four-lane carriageway of the Bihta – Koilwar section. These road projects are anticipated to enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, promote tourism, and facilitate socio-economic development in the region.

Six lane bridge across River Ganga

PM Modi inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for a six-lane bridge spanning across the River Ganga, a key component of the Patna Ring Road project. Expected to become one of the longest river bridges in the nation, this initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion within Patna city and enhance connectivity between the North and South regions of Bihar. 

Namami Gange in Bihar 

He unveiled twelve projects under the Namami Gange initiative in Bihar, with a total investment of approximately Rs 2,190 crore. These projects encompass the establishment of Sewage Treatment Plant at Saidpur & Pahari;  Sewerage Network for Saidpur, Beur, Pahari Zone IVA; Sewerage system with Sewer network at Karmalichak; Sewerage scheme at Pahari Zone V;  and Interception, Diversion & Sewage Treatment Plant at Barh, Chhapra, Naugachia, Sultanganj and Sonepur town. These endeavors ensure the treatment of wastewater before its discharge into the River Ganga at various locations, thereby enhancing the river’s cleanliness and benefiting the local populace.  

Unity Mall Patna

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for Unity Mall in Patna. With an estimated cost exceeding Rs 200 crore, the project is designed to be a cutting-edge facility incorporating international design standards, advanced technology, comfort, and aesthetic appeal. The mall will feature dedicated spaces for states, union territories, and districts to showcase their distinct products and craftsmanship, with 36 large stalls allocated for States/UTs and 38 small stalls for each district of Bihar. Unity Mall aims to boost local manufacturing and promote initiatives like One District One Products, Geographical Indicators (GI) products, and handicrafts from Bihar and India. This initiative is expected to have significant socio-economic benefits, including employment generation, infrastructure development, and increased exports from the state.

Railway projects

Among the other projects, PM Modi also dedicated to the nation three railway projects in Bihar, which include the doubling of the Patliputra to Pahleza railway line, a new 26 km rail line between Bandhua and Paimar, and the establishment of a MEMU Shed in Gaya. Furthermore, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Ara Bypass rail line. These railway projects are expected to enhance rail connectivity, increase line capacity, improve train mobility, and stimulate industrial development in the region.
