Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturer Foxconn has committed to invest Rs 15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu and to create 14,000 “high-value” jobs in the state, Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa announced on Monday in social media post on X (formerly Twitter).

Speaking on social media after a meeting between Chief Minister MK Stalin and Foxconn’s India representative Robert Wu, Rajaa described the package as the largest single commitment of engineering jobs for the state to date.

“Largest ever engineering jobs commitment for Tamil Nadu ! Foxconn commits Rs 15,000 crore in investments and 14,000 high value jobs! Engineers get ready!,” Rajaa wrote on X.

The Minister added that Guidance Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu’s investment promotion agency, will establish a dedicated “Foxconn Desk” to fast-track regulatory approvals and ensure mission-mode execution of the project. Officials described the desk as a one-stop facilitation cell aimed at shortening clearance timelines and smoothing implementation.

“Yet another major boost for Tamil Nadu’s electronics and advanced manufacturing sector as Honourable @CMOTamilNadu Thiru. @MKStalin avargal met with Foxconn’s India Representative Mr. Robert Wu to reaffirm their deep trust in Tamil Nadu with substantial investment commitments,” Rajaa added in his post.

Rajaa said Foxconn plans to bring its next phase of value-added manufacturing to the state, along with R&D integration and AI-led advanced-technology operations, a move the government says will strengthen Tamil Nadu’s position as a hub for electronics and advanced manufacturing.

The announcement comes amid a push by Tamil Nadu to attract large-scale electronics and semiconductor investments. State officials and industry analysts said the Foxconn commitment, if realised on the scale described, could significantly boost employment for engineering graduates and skilled workers in the region.

Representatives from Foxconn and the Tamil Nadu government did not immediately provide a public timetable for project implementation or detail the locations under consideration. The state said further details would be announced as approvals and plans progress.
