Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Friday said it would create 5,000 new jobs in the United Kingdom over the next three years as it expanded its operations there with the launch of an artificial intelligence (AI) experience zone and design studio in London.
The IT firm, India’s largest, said the move underscores its long-standing partnership with the UK and its intent to deepen investment in innovation and talent development.
Second global hub for innovation
The new London studio — TCS’ second after New York — will serve as a hub for client collaboration and innovation, drawing on partnerships with academia, startups and enterprises across the UK, the IT major said in a statement.
“The UK is TCS’ second-largest market globally, making it central to our investment strategy around the world,” Vinay Singhvi, head of TCS UK & Ireland, said. “The AI experience zone will further help to foster innovation in collaboration with businesses throughout the UK, helping in maintaining an edge in artificial intelligence and new technologies.”
Boost to India-UK ties
The announcement came a day after British Prime Minister Kier Starmer wrapped up his two-day visit to India, aimed at boosting bilateral trade and wooing Indian businesses to invest in the UK. A large UK business delegation had accompanied Starmer during the visit.
A report by advisory firm Oxford Economics, released during Starmer’s visit, highlighted TCS’ economic footprint. The company contributed £3.3 billion to the UK economy and supported £780 million in tax contributions in FY24, equivalent to the salaries of 20,400 teachers. It currently supports 42,700 jobs across 19 UK sites.
TCS’ latest investment “reinforces its position as the leading provider of critical digital services in the UK”, said Nick Mayes, principal analyst at PAC.
