Food delivery major Swiggy has rolled out a new savings feature called Maxxsaver on its quick commerce platform Instamart, offering customers automatic discounts on purchases of ₹999 or more.

The move comes a few months after rival Zepto launched its own version of a high-value savings tool called Super Saver. However, unlike Zepto’s opt-in feature, Maxxsaver is embedded directly into the Swiggy app and is automatically applied at checkout when the cart value threshold is met.

Amid intensifying competition and rapid expansion in the quick commerce space, platforms are increasingly focused on driving larger basket sizes rather than just frequent, low-ticket purchases.

Platforms like Flipkart Minutes are aggressively discounting to capture market share, while others are working to incentivise bulk purchases, shifting their positioning from being top-up solutions to more holistic grocery and essentials platforms. This is key as nearly 80% of orders on these platforms continue to be driven by daily-use items and groceries.

Among the top three players in the space, Blinkit is now the only one that does not offer major discounts or a loyalty program such as Zepto Pass or Swiggy One. It continues to charge delivery fees on every order, although these vary by location and distance.

Blinkit, however, is focusing on broadening its assortment, and recently began offering rapid delivery of air conditioners in major metro cities.

Swiggy, meanwhile, is betting on geographic expansion and building larger fulfillment centers called megapods, which significantly increase product variety. While traditional dark stores hold around 20,000 SKUs, Swiggy’s megapods can stock up to 50,000 SKUs.

Instamart recently became the first quick commerce platform to expand to 100 cities, and the new Maxxsaver feature will be available in all of them.

“With Maxxsaver, we enhance our promise to make Swiggy Instamart the most affordable and convenient quick-commerce destination,” said Amitesh Jha, CEO of Swiggy Instamart. “By passing on the benefits of larger orders, we’re able to offer better pricing to our users.”
