NTPC Green Energy, the renewable energy subsidiary of state-owned NTPC, on Wednesday reported a 188% rise in its consolidated net profit for the last quarter of FY25 at Rs 233.21 crore on higher income. On a sequential basis too, the profit rose by as much as 255% from Rs 65.61 crore in Q3FY25. The company reported a net profit of Rs 80.95 crore in Q3FY24.

The company’s revenue from operations stood at Rs 622.27 crore, up 22% from Rs 508.14 crore in the same period of the previous year. Total income in the quarter under review also rose by 36% to Rs 751.50 crore against Rs 553.06 crore in Q4FY24.

For the full FY25, the company registered a 38% rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 474.12 crore against Rs 342.86 crore in FY24.

The company had raised a total of Rs 10,000 crore in its initial public offering during the fiscal subsequent to which its equity shares were listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on November 27, 2024.

NTPC Green is targeting a 19 GW renewable energy capacity in a phased manner by 2026-27 at an estimated investment of Rs 1 lakh crore, the company has earlier said. Furthermore, the company has laid an ambitious plan to expand its renewable capacity to 60 GW by 2032. 

The company which develops renewable energy projects, through its joint venture with ONGC Green named ONGC NTPC Green Ltd, aims at setting up battery energy storage projects, offshore and onshore wind projects, and green chemical projects. ONGC NTPC Green Pvt Ltd (ONGPL) has recently completed acquisition of 100 per cent equity stake in Ayana Renewable Power for Rs 6,248.50 crore.

NTPC Ltd has over the years diversified into renewable energy sources including wind, solar, hydro, nuclear energy, and chemicals like ethanol and methanol. Going ahead, the company will be more aggressive in increasing its renewable energy capacity and nuclear energy along with energy storage solutions.

NTPC Green, earlier, has also entered into a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Ltd to undertake development of renewable energy parks in the country. The JV will develop 10 gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy parks and projects in Maharashtra or in any other state of the country, the company had said. 

In FY25, NTPC added 660 megawatt (MW) of thermal capacity and 3.3 GW of renewable energy capacity. For the current financial year 2025-26, the company intends to add 3 GW of coal-based capacity, and 5 GW of renewable energy capacity.
