Tony Fernandes-led Airasia has confirmed today that its flight QZ 8501 from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore had lost contact with air traffic control and that its current location is not known.
The missing Airasia flight is very much Reminiscent of the Malaysia airlines MH370 disappearance – it still has not been found and its fate is still in the realm of conjecture.
Airasia is also not certain whether the jet has crashed or has been hijacked.

The Airbus 320-200 had 155 passengers and crew on board, transport officials said.
According to authorities, no Indians were believed to be aboard the missing flight – crew and passengers, both.
Airasia says a massive search and rescue operation has been launched.
