Lufthansa passenger airlines on Friday introduced Premium Economy Class on its Mumbai-Frankfurt and Mumbai – Munich route, making Mumbai, after Bangaluru and Delhi, third city to offer premium economy facility.

The service on Mumbai-Frankfurt route will start from September 23, 2015 and that on Mumbai-Munich route from October 26, 2015. The German airline has also announced a special inaugural fare of Rs 69,000 on its Mumbai–Frankfurt route.

Wolfgang Will, Director, South Asia, Lufthansa Passenger Airlines called the facility ideal for leisure travelers with higher budget and for business travelers with constrained budgets.

The facility that Lufthansa termed as the most important part of the biggest product upgrade in Lufthansa’s history comes with on-board as well as on-ground benefits like double free baggage allowance than economy class, more legroom space, a welcome drink, amenity kit, power socket and meals. In addition, there is an extensive inflight entertainment program for passengers to view on a large monitor fitted on the backrest of the seat in front.

Passengers traveling Premium Economy are also able to access Lufthansa Business Lounges prior to take-off, for a nominal fee.
