Chinese technology firm LeEco will be adding audio content to its collection via partnership with Hungama and the service will be live from early October, according to Atul Jain, COO, smart electronics, LeEco India.
The company already has tie-ups with YuppTV and Eros Now and will be expanding to original content over the next 6-9 months.
In China, LeEco launched its content services in 2004 as an aggregator like Netflix. It already produces original content in Chinese and has Hindi and regional content in pipeline to increase its adoption in the country. In addition, LeEco also offers sports content. “We have our sports screen – Le Sports through which we have acquired sports properties across the world,” Jain added.
For the first year, the content services of LeEco are bundled with its mobiles phones and televisions. After one year, users will be charged LeEco subscription fee of R4,900 annually if they want to renew the membership.
