Hyundai Motor India Limited has announced price reduction of up to Rs 2.4 lakhs to pass on the full benefit of GST rate cut to customers. The decision comes after the GST council approved the revamped two-slab structure as it removed the 12% and 28% rates. The revamped structure will have only 5% and 18% tax rates, with an exception of 40% on ‘sin good’s and luxurious vehicles among others.
Several carmakers have already announced the price cut, which some of them said will be effective before the new Goods and Service Tax (GST) rates come into picture, i.e. September 22, 2025. In a statement, Hyundai said it is slashing the prices of the vehicles ranging between Rs 60,640 on Verna to Rs 2.4 lakh on premium SUV Tucson from September 22.
“This reform is not only a boost to the automotive industry but also a strong step towards empowering millions of customers by making personal mobility more affordable and accessible,” Unsoo Kim, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor India, stated.
‘Hyundai models at more accessible price’
Hyundai said the rate cuts will allow the customers across the country to buy their favorite “Hyundai models at more accessible price points”. This, the company said, will enhance the “joy of car ownership this festive season”.
Commenting on the announcement, MD Unsoo Kim, said, “We sincerely appreciate the progressive and far-sighted move by the Government of India to reduce GST on passenger vehicles. This reform is not only a boost to the automotive industry but also a strong step towards empowering millions of customers by making personal mobility more affordable and accessible.”
“As India moves forward on the path of Viksit Bharat, Hyundai remains committed to aligning with the nation’s growth ambitions by ensuring our cars and SUVs continue to deliver value, innovation and joy of driving,” Unsoo added.
