DNV, an independent assurance and risk management provider based in UAE, has entered into a strategic collaboration with RACS Quality Certificates Issuing Services. This partnership aims to streamline certification processes and enhance compliance efficiency for their clients.

Through this agreement, DNV will offer the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) to its customers. Additionally, clients can now access both ATEX and IECEx certification through a single application, significantly expediting the certification process. This integrated approach will allow businesses to achieve compliance more efficiently and effectively.

ECAS is a product certification scheme mandated by the Federal Law 28 of 2001 for government-regulated products in the UAE. Under this scheme, all regulated products must meet safety and quality requirements specified in technical regulations adopted by the UAE government. Suppliers must register their products and obtain a certificate of conformity before selling them within the UAE.

ATEX, which stands for “ATmosphere EXplosibles,” is a mandatory certification for products sold in the European market. It ensures that equipment operates safely in explosive environments, preventing accidents when used as per the manufacturer’s recommendations. Products intended for use in explosive atmospheres within the European Union and the European Economic Area must have ATEX certification.

To achieve IECEx certification, products undergo a rigorous assessment process by the International Electrotechnical Commission. This certification confirms that the products are safe for use in hazardous or potentially explosive environments. While ATEX certification is mandatory within the European Union, IECEx certification is recognized and accepted globally, offering broader international recognition and acceptance.

“Our joint efforts with RACS will ensure that our clients benefit from the highest standards of certification and conformity assessment,” said Prakash Tikare, Area Manager – Indian Subcontinent and Middle East, Supply Chain, and Product Assurance at DNV. “By leveraging the strengths of both organizations, we can offer a more robust and integrated certification service that meets the diverse needs of our global client base.”

Rose Maher Sobhi, General Manager at RACS Quality Certificates Issuing Services, echoed this sentiment, stating, “We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and the positive impact that our collaboration will have on industries worldwide. Together, RACS and DNV are redefining the future of certification services, and we look forward to embarking on this journey of collaboration, growth, and success.”
