Banks in several parts of the country are shut on October 21, 22, and 23 on account of Laxmi Pujan, Diwali, Govardhan Pooja, and Bhai Dooj. Here are all the details.
Bank Holidays from October 21 – 23: State-wise details
On Monday, October 21, which marks another day of Diwali celebrations, including Laxmi Puja and Govardhan Puja, banks will be closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Jammu, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Srinagar.
On Tuesday, October 22, banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Shimla.
The following day, October 23, will also see bank holidays in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Imphal, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Shimla on account of Bhai Dooj, Chitragupt Jayanti, and related festivals.
Bank holidays vary from state to state, depending on local festivals and regional customs. While branches will remain closed on the above dates in certain regions, online banking, ATMs, and digital payment systems such as UPI and net banking will continue to function as usual. Customers are advised to plan their offline visit accordingly.
Fourth Saturday and Sunday bank holidays
October 25 is the fourth Saturday, so banks across the nation are going to be closed as part of the routine holiday. Following this, on October 26, banks will also remain shut across the country for the regular Sunday holiday.
Banks shut on October 27, 28, and 31 for regional festivals
Banks in several states, including West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand, will remain shut on account of Chhath Puja on October 27 and 28. This bank holiday will be applicable in cities including Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi.
On October 31, banks in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, will remain closed to mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary.
