Amazon India expects this year’s edition of its Prime Day sale, slated from July 12 to 14, to clock record sales for the company, a top official told FE on Tuesday.

“We expect this to be the biggest Prime Day in our history,” said Akshay Sahi, Director, Prime, Delivery and Returns, India and Emerging Markets.

“The entire organisation is super excited. We’re wrapping up preparations. Our sellers are excited and we’re inbounding all the inventory,” he added.

Prime Day 2025, which will run for 72 hours, marks the first time the event will extend over three days in the country. Apart from new product launches from more than 400 brands, the company is focusing on reducing the delivery times this year, as more consumers move towards quick commerce.

“We hope that this Prime Day we can continue pushing the bar and deliver our orders the fastest ever to all our members,” Sahi said.

Last week, the e-commerce major announced that it would invest around Rs 2,000 crore in the country to expand its fulfilment centres and reduce delivery times. Currently, it offers the Prime customers a mix of delivery timelines ranging from same-day to next day.

Sahi said that about 1 million products are available for same-day delivery in most top cities and another 4 million eligible for the next day.

The e-commerce major is also piloting its quick commerce app in Bengaluru, although it remains a late entrant in the segment.

Last year, the company tiered its Prime program in a bid to improve affordability and convenience for households across income levels and shopping preferences.

It now offers three annual packs for Prime membership – Rs 399 for shopping, Rs 799 for shopping and single device Prime Video, and Rs 1,499 for shopping and video across five devices.

“The reason we did that was because we realized we don’t want to serve just a few million customers who are the rich, but of all the different socio-economic classes which are there in India,” Sahi said, adding that tiering has worked out “really well” for the company.

He, however, did not give out any particular subscription figures.

Prime Day 2025 will be Amazon India’s ninth edition of the sale.
