The Adani Group-linked Haifa port remained unharmed on Sunday following a late night ballistic missile attack from Iran. The clarification came hours after the Israeli Oil Refineries said its pipelines and transmission lines in Haifa had been damaged by airstrikes. A regulatory filing to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange added that the facilities continued to operate despite a shutdown of some downstream operations — with no injuries or casualties reported from the sites.
According to sources quoted by news agency PTI, shrapnel fell in the chemical terminal of the port on Saturday night while some other projectiles landed on the oil refinery. Haifa port was reportedly not impacted by the strike and operations continue as usual in the area. Sources also told the publication that were currently eight ships in the port and cargo operations remained “normal”.
Group CFO Jugeshinder Robbie Singh also issued a one world clarification after social media posts claimed that cargo facility worth $4.2 billion in Haifa port had been “destroyed by Iranian strikes — explaining that the message was “false”.
The Port of Haifa is owned by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd and the Israeli Gadot Group and serves as a crucial maritime hub in the Mediterranean. Shares of the Gautam Adani-led company — which controls a 70% share — had dropped more than 3% during trading on Friday as investors assessed the potential impact of the escalating Israel-Iran conflict. The missiles may have caused damage to a major oil refinery close to the port but there was no official comment about the impact.
Israel attacked Iran early Friday targeting its nuclear, missile and military infrastructure. Iran later launched retaliatory strikes on Israel. The two countries traded strikes for a third day on Sunday as the Middle East region braced for a protracted conflict. Iran said Israel struck two oil refineries, raising the prospect of a broader assault on Iran’s heavily sanctioned energy industry that could affect global markets. Some Iranian missiles evaded Israeli air defenses to strike buildings in the heart of the country.
