In the aftermath of the tragic terrorist attacks at Moscow’s concert hall, Russia finds an ally in India in its fight against terrorism.
Last week, Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov, amidst the visit of Ukraine’s Foreign Minister to India, expressed solidarity with India in combating terrorism.
On March 22, armed terrorists unleashed chaos at the Crocus concert in Moscow through gunfire and bomb blasts, claiming the lives of over 130 individuals. The Russian envoy took to social media to affirm Russia’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism bilaterally and multilaterally, alongside India and other nations. He acknowledged the resolute support extended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, political leaders, ministers, officials, and public activists in denouncing terrorism in all its forms.
Expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support from India and other nations, Ambassador Alipov conveyed messages of condemnation for the heinous attack and heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, and the Russian government. Attributing the terrorist attacks to Ukraine, Russia points to the apprehension of the attackers near the Ukrainian border.
The suspects, all Tajikistan citizens, were reportedly linked to ISIS. While ISIS claimed responsibility, Russia alleges Ukrainian involvement, leading to heightened tensions.
President Vladimir Putin, reportedly distraught by the events, received a call from Tajikistan President Rahmon, who unequivocally condemned the attacks, asserting that terrorists transcend nationality, homeland, and religion.
