In an extraordinary transformation, the Hinduja Group, a renowned multinational with over a century of history, unveiled The Old War Office (OWO) as London’s most prestigious luxury hotel. The momentous occasion featured a star-studded launch event, graced by the presence of dignitaries like Rishi Sunak, British Prime Minister, and eminent figures from politics, business, and the entertainment world. Notably, musicians Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and Andrea Bocelli surprised attendees with captivating musical performances.

The OWO, a remarkable collaboration between the Hinduja Group and Raffles Hotels & Resorts, has breathed new life into the historic Old War Office, nestled in the heart of Whitehall. Princess Anne, the Princess Royal and sibling to King Charles III, did the honours by officially inaugurating the hotel after an insightful tour led by GP Hinduja, Chairman of the Hinduja Group.

The event also witnessed a brief visit from British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who joined parliamentarians, entrepreneurs, hoteliers, and stars of the film and television industry in celebrating this grand opening.

GP Hinduja, the Chairman of the Hinduja Group, emphasized their commitment to fostering ties between India and the UK, seeing their role as a bridge between the two nations. He reflected on the eight-year journey to transform this iconic building, once associated with World Wars, into a symbol of peace and serenity. The OWO is set to become a must-visit destination for all arriving in London, representing the rich legacy of the Hinduja Group.

The launch event featured the culinary creations of Chef Mauro Colagreco, a recipient of three Michelin stars, who serves as the chef partner for The OWO. Starting from September 29th, the hotel will welcome its first guests.

Raffles London at The OWO, as it is officially known, is the result of a partnership between the Hinduja Group and Accor, a multinational hospitality group based in France.

According to a press statement Sanjay Hinduja, who oversaw the project, expressed awe at the size and grandeur of the historic building in Whitehall. The team spared no expense in restoring its former glory and paying homage to its rich heritage while infusing new life into it. The aim is to create a legacy that stands the test of time.

The grand inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including HRH Princess Beatrice, Sadiq Khan (Mayor of London), Adil Ray (British Actor and Comedian), Natalie Pinkman (British Television Presenter), Richard Caring (British Businessman), and Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar and his wife Twinkle Khanna. Members of the Royal Family, world leaders, and celebrities united to witness the revival of this iconic building.

The ceremony featured live performances by world-renowned music icons Andrea Bocelli and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber. Guests savoured an exquisite culinary experience with canapés crafted by the acclaimed Chef Mauro Colagreco, who also serves as the chef partner for Raffles London at The OWO.

The transformed OWO now includes 85 Residences by Raffles, forming part of the building’s reimagining as a new culinary hub for London, boasting nine restaurants and three bars, including a rooftop venue offering panoramic views of Buckingham Palace.
