Recent anti-terror operations

This incident follows a successful operation by the Indian Army last week, where three terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) were eliminated in the Machhal and Tangdhar sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.

The recent infiltration attempts were thwarted based on credible intelligence inputs, corroborated by J-K Police, indicating likely terrorist movements. In response, the Indian Army, along with Jammu and Kashmir Police and BSF, laid ambushes on likely infiltration routes in both sectors.

On the evening of August 28, suspicious movement was detected in the area, leading to an exchange of fire that lasted until the early hours of August 29. This operation is part of a broader effort to secure the region, marking the sixth such operation in the Kupwara district this year. These operations have resulted in the elimination of 10 terrorists, including foreign infiltrators, reflecting the ongoing challenges in maintaining security along the LoC.
