Recognizing the Indo-Pacific region as a pivotal global economic powerhouse responsible for generating 60 percent of global GDP and driving two-thirds of global growth, Germany underscores the critical interconnection between stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific, Europe, and the wider world.
German Minister of State Tobias Lindner issued a significant statement ahead of his journey to India and emphasized that local and regional conflicts carry far-reaching global consequences, including economic crises and threats to the rules-based international order. Germany’s commitment to expanding its engagement in the Indo-Pacific predates the Russian aggression in Ukraine, and Minister Lindner aims to deepen discussions on how Germany and Europe can contribute to fostering peace, security, and stability in the region.
