India is the destination of Paraná’s Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, accompanied by a high-level delegation visiting from April 11-16. The mission will seek partnerships in the area of innovation and technology with companies and institutional bodies from the Asian giant.
Agenda
During the visit organized by Invest Paraná, the Government’s investment attraction agency, linked to the Secretariat of Industry, Commerce and Services (Seic), there will be meetings with executives from Indian multinationals from different sectors.
In January, Governor Ratinho Junior met with the ambassador of India to Brazil, Suresh Reddy, at the Iguaçu Palace to discuss different projects they want to pursue in India. They will go to different cities including Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi, and Ahmedabad to meet with different companies and organizations. This trip is very important for Paraná State in Brazil.
Ahead of the visit to India, Ratinho Junior highlighted that the State is investing to become the great innovation hub in Brazil and a center point for professionals in the sector, similar to what India is to the world. Hence the importance of approaching the Indian technology and innovation market, the largest global producer of software, as well as being prominent in the production of electronics, agro-industrial and biotechnology products.
“This new initiative aims to strengthen our connections with India, fostering strategic partnerships. We recently launched Fábrica de Ideias and aim to forge strong alliances with this technology and innovation powerhouse, potentially creating new jobs in Paraná,” stated the governor.
Eduardo Bekin, CEO of Invest Paraná, highlighted India’s success in technology and innovation despite its large population. He emphasized the country’s progress in digitalization and internet accessibility as a model for others to follow.
Paraná’s exports reached US$5.42 billion in the first quarter, a 4.7percent increase compared to last year. Soybeans, raw sugar, and refined sugar significantly contributed to Paraná’s export growth, with increases of 161.2percent, 105.5percent, and 380.6percent, respectively. There was also notable growth in exports of electrical generators and transformers, oils, fuels, and food products.
Mumbai:
The delegation headed by the governor will start their visit to the financial capital Mumbai on Thursday. Their first engagement will be with a visit to the Consul General of Brazil in the city, João Mendonça.
Followed by a meeting with the Kalpataru group, a corporation that operates in several segments, such as the real estate, engineering, infrastructure, energy, logistics, construction materials sectors, among others. In Paraná, the conglomerate owns Fasttel Engenharia, which employs 1,600 people in the state.
Pune:
On Friday, the visiting governor will witness the signing of the partnership between the Araucária Foundation – a research funding body in Paraná – and the Center for Development of Advanced Computing in India (C- DAC). This will be for the installation of a high-performance computer at the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG). Also, this will provide for a state-of-the-art IT training center in Paraná.
Later in the day there will be a meeting between the Paraná Institute of Technology (Tecpar) and the Serum Institute, a global leader in vaccine production.
Tecpar is looking for a partnership to produce vaccines in its laboratory in the Industrial City of Curitiba (CIC). The institute in Paraná is a reference in the production not only of immunization agents, but also of biological medicines and human and animal diagnostic kits.
