In a pivotal moment for infrastructural development, a delegation from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is on a mission to oversee the technical details of an important metro line project in El Salvador.
Partnering with Obras PublicaSV, the team’s expertise promises to revolutionize connectivity in the region, with a particular focus on the 22 km metro line set to redefine transportation in San Salvador, capital city of El Salvador.
Following thorough technical discussions, a Concession Agreement is set to be signed in the first week of April 2024, with a goal to complete the project within 3-4 years. DMRC’s technical expertise will be instrumental in drafting the agreement and addressing financial aspects. Moreover, the visit promises valuable exchanges of best practices, lessons learned, and innovative solutions for metro rail projects, fostering enhanced collaboration between the involved parties.
Furthermore, after the signing of the Concession Agreement, a delegation from the Government of El Salvador is scheduled to visit the DMRC office in New Delhi, gaining firsthand experience of metro train operations in the city, solidifying the partnership between the two nations.
This collaboration, boosted by a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Lakshmi Capital and the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation of El Salvador, signifies a crucial step towards realizing the ambitious vision of enhanced public transportation infrastructure.
As the DMRC delegation engages with key stakeholders, conducts technical assessments, and lays the groundwork for the future, the stage is set for a transformative journey towards progress and connectivity in El Salvador.
The MoU was signed by Minister Romeo Rodríguez of the Ministry of Public Works, of El Salvador and Transportation and Russell Alexander Luther Rodas of Laxmi Capital in the presence of Ambassador of India in Guatemala, Dr Manoj Kumar Mohapatra.
The delegation from the DMRC during their visit, had a meeting with Ibrahim Bukele, advisor to the President of El Salvador, where they shared invaluable insights and expertise regarding the metro line project. Later they had site visits and carried out technical assessments to gather vital data necessary for the successful planning and execution of the project.
The team evaluated various aspects of the metro line project, including route alignment, station design, signaling systems, rolling stock procurement, and safety protocols. To enhance collaboration and cooperation in the technical aspects of the project, DMRC entered into a Non-Disclosure Agreement with Lakshmi Capital, elevating their partnership to a higher level. Additionally, they presented their working plan and assessment of the survey to the officials of the Government of El Salvador, outlining the proposed implementation of the metro project.
Ambassador Dr Manoj Kumar Mohapatra played a pivotal role in fostering collaboration between the DMRC team, Lakshmi Capital, and the Government of El Salvador. Expressing confidence in DMRC’s expertise, capabilities, and international experience, he welcomed the delegation to El Salvador, envisioning significant contributions to enhancing public transportation infrastructure and improving connectivity in the country.
