In an effort to bolster the longstanding ties of friendship between India and Africa, Secretary (Economic Relations) Dammu Ravi, accompanied by AS(E&SA) Puneet R Kundal, is embarking on a important diplomatic mission to Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya.

This diplomatic initiative aims to sustain the momentum of high-level engagement following the African Union’s (AU) induction as a permanent member of the G-20 during India’s presidency. The week-long visit, scheduled from April 7-12, 2024, underscores India’s commitment to deepening economic, cultural, and strategic partnerships across the African continent.

In addition to this solemn occasion, Secretary Ravi will engage in discussions with key ministers and senior officials of the Rwandan government, further enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Uganda (April 8-9, 2024):

Subsequently, Secretary Ravi will proceed to Uganda, leading a diverse 35-member business delegation. Secretary Ravi will hold meetings with Ugandan ministers and officials, as well as chair a business session featuring leaders from Indian and Ugandan industries. Additionally, he will interact with the vibrant Indian community in Uganda, reaffirming their integral role in strengthening bilateral relations.

Kenya (April 10-12, 2024):

The final leg of Secretary Ravi’s visit will take him to Kenya, where he will lead a substantial delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Indian agricultural companies, and business chambers.

This visit marks the execution of the agreements reached during the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and the President of Kenya in December 2023. The delegation will explore opportunities for agricultural collaboration and investment in Kenya.

Secretary Ravi will engage in discussions with Kenyan ministers and officials, chair a business session involving Indian and Kenyan companies, and connect with the vibrant Indian community in Kenya, underscoring the multifaceted nature of India-Kenya relations.
