Constelli, a startup focused on transforming the design, development, and testing processes in the aerospace and defense sectors, has raised $3 million in pre-Series A funding. Led by Pravega Ventures, the investment will be used to advance the company’s research and development (R&D) initiatives and capital expenditure, with an emphasis on creating innovative products that could reshape the defense industry.

In an exclusive interaction with FinancialExpress.com,  Satya Gopal Panigrahi, the Founder and CEO of Constelli, highlighted the challenges in traditional defense testing. He explained, “Flight tests and field tests are often considered the holy grail of testing in aerospace and defense. However, field testing is not only resource-intensive but also time-consuming, leading to significant delays in our programs.”

Reducing Delays with Innovative Testing Strategies

Constelli is aiming to streamline defense testing by using cutting-edge technology to cut down on the need for physical testing. Panigrahi shared how Constelli is addressing these challenges: “We employ two parallel strategies to achieve this objective. Firstly, we utilize advanced modeling and simulation tools to create operational test environments within our laboratories. This infrastructure minimizes the need for extensive flight testing, allowing us to conduct detailed evaluations earlier in the development cycle and make design changes before they become critical.”

He emphasized that while such operational test facilities are common among major contractors in the West, they have often been unavailable or too costly in India. “Constelli has developed state-of-the-art facilities in India with high indigenous content and significant innovation,” Panigrahi explained.

Integrating AI and Modern Technologies for Smarter Testing

Alongside advanced modeling, Constelli is incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance its testing protocols. With sensors like radar and electronic warfare (EW) systems becoming more software-driven and intelligent, Panigrahi noted, “We implement AI to create test scenarios that effectively evaluate cognitive and intelligent sensors.” This AI integration is expected to significantly improve the quality and efficiency of testing in the defense sector.

Contributing to India’s Defense Ecosystem

In addition to developing advanced testing tools, Constelli is collaborating with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on several key programs. The company is focused on reducing field test times and developing core algorithms for radio frequency (RF) sensors. Panigrahi also highlighted the company’s development of a telemetry receiver, which has been successfully deployed in various tests, showcasing Constelli’s growing influence in India’s defense tech landscape.

Aiming for Global Impact

With the new funding, Constelli plans to accelerate its growth and global ambitions. Panigrahi expressed excitement about the partnership with Pravega Ventures, saying, “This funding will propel our vision of establishing an Indian company as a global defense player.”

Avinash Chenreddy, the Founder and CTO of Constelli, added, “At Constelli, our mission is to digitally transform the system development lifecycle of RF mission sensors. This funding will help us expand our investments in niche technology areas and further develop our product pipeline.”

Investor Confidence

Pravega Ventures, which led the funding round, expressed strong belief in Constelli’s future. A representative from the firm said, “Constelli is a leading innovator in the RADAR and EW domain. We are impressed with the company’s strong team and their consistent growth over the years. We firmly believe that Constelli has the potential to become a global leader in the defense technology sector.”
