Weekends are all about down time. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web-series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Bhavesh Talreja, founder and CEO, Globale Media, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
It’s kind of a paradox, but when I am not working, I like watching Netflix or going travelling somewhere. So, it’s almost like one thing cancels out the other. I am always on the lookout for new shows on Netflix but I also like travelling and visiting new places.
How do you spend your weekends?
I like to spend my weekends with my family. I have realised that you can often find quality time in the simplest things like playing games, cooking together, going for a walk, or simply sharing laughter over lunch and dinner. I simply cherish the time that I get to spend with my son and dog. In our family, it’s a tradition, whether it’s a weekly game night, or having meals together and I love spending my weekends that way.
What are your favourite gadgets?
Apple Vision Pro is my favourite gadget. It seamlessly blends digital content with physical space. The extended reality (XR) market is an umbrella category that includes augmented, virtual, and mixed reality and everything in between. It’s also been called the beginning of “spatial computing”, meaning all the apps running around you.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
Travelling would be there but I would also up the ante with trekking. It’s a great way to escape from the stress of everyday life, unwind, and recharge. It offers numerous health benefits while disconnecting me from technology and connecting me with nature. Travelling and trekking can be transformative experiences that promote personal growth, self-discovery, and reflection.
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
I would say, Ibiza in Spain is my favourite vacation place, any time. It is renowned for its picturesque beaches with crystal-clear turquoise waters and soft white sand. Visitors can enjoy sunbathing, swimming, and water sports such as snorkelling, diving, and sailing. But beyond its lively party scene and vibrant nightlife, it also boasts a rich cultural heritage in places such as Dalt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
As far as the TV show goes, Suits. It’s both entertaining and intellectually stimulating, although to be honest, most of the time, there’s a lot of legal jargon I don’t get, but I guess that’s what makes it more compelling.
It’s more a documentary than a movie, but one movie that I would definitely recommend watching would be My Octopus Teacher. It’s a captivating and deeply personal story of filmmaker Craig Foster’s year-long relationship with an octopus in the underwater kelp forests of South Africa but more than it explores the themes of connection, empathy, power of nature to heal and the profound bond between humans and animals. No wonder the film won an Oscar.
The recent women’s day campaign by Zomato is definitely my favorite. By introducing kurtas as the new uniform for its women delivery partners alongside the traditional T-shirts is a groundbreaking initiative to empower its women workforce. I applaud Zomato for such an inclusive approach.
