Passengers aboard IndiGo flight 6E-6313 from Delhi to Raipur were left stranded inside the aircraft for nearly 40 minutes on Wednesday after a technical glitch prevented the door from opening upon landing. The incident, which occurred around 2:20 pm, triggered unease among travellers, especially in the aftermath of the devastating Air India crash in Ahmedabad just days ago that claimed 270 lives.

The Delhi-Raipur flight was carrying several passengers, including former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Raipur Mayor Meenal Choubey.

Speaking to PTI, Choubey said, “After landing, the flight door remained shut for more than 30 minutes. When we asked the crew, they informed us there was a technical problem and they were trying to fix it. Only after passengers insisted on external help did ground personnel come and open the door.”

Choubey stressed that passengers were not panicked, but acknowledged that “after the Ahmedabad incident, even small glitches bring that memory back.”

Echoing similar concerns, Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel told reporters at the airport that the passengers had to remain seated inside the aircraft for nearly 40 minutes as the crew struggled to unlock the door.

IndiGo later issued a statement acknowledging the delay. “Flight 6E-6313, operating from Delhi to Raipur, experienced a delay in opening the aircraft door upon arrival on June 18, 2025, due to a minor technical issue. Following standard safety procedures, the door was opened after necessary checks were completed,” the airline spokesperson said. “We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding.”

While no injuries or emergencies were reported, the incident has added to the growing concerns about aviation safety among domestic travellers, particularly amid a string of recent flight-related mishaps.
