Flyers at multiple airports across the country were left surprised after IndiGo cancelled several flights due to tech issues and crew shortage, reported PTI citing sources. The airline has reportedly cancelled over 70 flights in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bengaluru combined and around 38 flights are impacted at Delhi airportDelhi Airport.

At Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, at least 13 flights have been cancelled, leaving travellers frustrated. The chaotic situation has spread across multiple cities and airports. The airport reportedly said that some IndiGo flights have been impacted due to airline-related technology and operational issues, resulting in delays and cancellations.

The report said that Indigo has also cancelled 18 incoming flights from various destinations to Hyderabad.

“Deeply unfortunate to see #Ayyappadevotees forced to protest at Hyderabad Airport after @IndiGo6E failed to address hours-long delays. Passengers deserve clarity, and responsible service. Hope the authorities take immediate action,” a netizen said in a post on X tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah and Ram Mohan Naidu.

IndiGo responds to situation

Meanwhile, acknowledging the situation, an airline spokesperson said they have had several unavoidable flight delays and some cancellations in the past few days due to various reasons including technology issues, airport congestion, and operational requirements.

The RGAI, in a post on X, said some IndiGo flights at the airport have been impacted due to airline-related technology and operational issues, resulting in delays and cancellations.

Air India also flagged issues a day earlier

On Tuesday, Air India alerted passengers about possible flight delays caused by a “third-party disruption,” which is impacting “check-in systems at various airports.

In an official statement, it said the team were working diligently to ensure a smooth check-in experience for all passengers.

The airline added that the system was being gradually restored, but some flights would continue to experience delays “until the situation fully normalises.” Passengers were urged to check their flight status before heading to the airport and to arrive earlier than usual.
