IndiGo Flight Cancellations Today Live: India’s biggest air carrier, IndiGo on Friday cancelled nearly 400 flights at Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad airports on the fourth day of a crisis that continues to trouble thousands of passengers. With no respite in sight and hours of wait already, the anger is what the officials at the airport are seeing now.
IndiGo plans to cancel 104 flights in Mumbai, 102 in Bangalore, 85 in Delhi and 92 in Hyderabad, airport sources told Reuters.
On Thursday, IndiGo, which has more than 60% of India’s domestic market, told the regulator its operations would be fully restored by February 10. It cancelled 550 flights on Thursday, and has asked for relief from some provisions that limit pilot duty hours at night.
Now, after days of trouble, the DGCA has withdrawn the FDTL norms.
DGCA withdraws FDTL norm, what is it?
The Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) guidelines determine how long pilots can be on duty and how many hours they can fly. This includes number of night landings they may perform, and the minimum rest they must receive. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) revised these limits last year in January 2024 after reviewing fatigue reports and global standards.
It were implemented in two phases – lengthen weekly rest, extend the definition of night, and place stricter caps on night operations with the aim of reducing fatigue-related safety risks.
What is IndiGo doing?
IndiGo, which is experiencing operational disruptions and cancellations, on Thursday sought temporary operational exemptions from certain Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) provisions for its A320 fleet until February 10, 2026. It has assured that operational stability will be restored by that date, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement.
But why?
The DGCA and IndiGo’s senior leadership chaired a meeting on Thursday and said that to reduce passenger inconvenience while maintaining safety margins, IndiGo has requested operational variations or exemptions from specific FDTL provisions for A320 operations up to February 10, 2026.
The airline has assured DGCA that corrective actions are underway and that normalised and stable operations will be fully restored by February 10, 2026.
IndiGo issues apology
Amid the ruckus, IndiGo apologised after two days of widespread disruptions across its network. Issuing a “heartfelt apology” to customers and industry stakeholders, the airline said it “remains focussed on streamlining its operations at the earliest.”
“We extend a heartfelt apology to all our customers and industry stakeholders who have been impacted by these events. IndiGo teams are working diligently and making all efforts with the support of MOCA, DGCA, BCAS, AAI and airport operators to reduce the cascading impact of these delays and restore normalcy,” IndiGo said in a statement posted on X.

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari told ANI, “Today in the Rajya Sabha, during Zero Hour, I raised a point of order, questioning the importance of propriety. Millions of passengers in India have faced travel disruptions due to the cancellation of over 500 IndiGo flights. This matter directly concerns the House.”
He noted that Fridays see many MPs travelling to councils and that flight cancellations disrupt not just Parliament duties but also the travel plans of ordinary citizens.
“This matter directly concerns the House. Today is Friday. Since many members don’t have sittings on Saturdays and Sundays, they travel to their councils to fulfil their responsibilities. At a time when everyone has reservations and needs to travel, these flights are being postponed indefinitely and then cancelled. This is a matter of propriety for the House. It should be addressed. I am pleased that the Chairman acknowledged this. He directed the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, who has stated that he has certainly asked the Civil Aviation Minister to come prepared and inform the House. This question does not pertain only to MPs. This is connected to India’s travellers. This is the result of the government’s monopoly policy of entrusting everything to one or two people.,” he added, according to ANI.

Then, when I checked in, they simply told me the flight was cancelled. There was a flight for tomorrow, but that too was cancelled.”
“Now, there is no flight this week… We spoke to them, but they weren’t taking responsibility, saying they weren’t at fault. Whatever happened was due to the weather… I booked the ticket for Rs 10,000… I was wondering when the refund would come. They said it would come within a week, but some people were over one week old and haven’t received their refunds yet. We have a lot of doubts about it… There’s no train option right now. If we had been informed earlier, we could have bought train tickets… Our backup option right now is to book a cab and go directly from here, but that is also an extra expense…” he said.

I have just learned that IndiGo has cancelled all its departures from the Delhi Airport till 3 pm… DGCA has put aside the passengers and is catering to the airline instead of regulating it… If you are not responsible for rising airfares and passenger grievances then shut down the Civil Aviation Ministry…” she said.
